Midnight Stroll

My spouse has been knocking it out of the park this pandemic with the new and innovative cocktails.  Our governor has been absolutely the worst governor in America since May, and we remain one of two states without a mask mandate.  In addition, our bars remained open up until now, and as a result we have the highest number of new cases per million of any state in the country, which of course has us leading the world as well, because bad leadership abounds in the United States these days.
So it will be months if not years before I would even consider going into a bar again.  The good news is that there is absolutely no reason to do so, because the cocktails at my house are better than almost anywhere that I have been, and certainly out class anything in the neighborhood.
This is one that has my new favorite ingredient: an amaro.

  • 1 1/2 ounces (45ml) rye whiskey
  • 3/4 ounce (22ml) Campari
  • 1/2 ounce (15ml) Amaro Ramazzotti
  • 1/4 ounce (7ml) Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao
  • Dash Peychaud's Bitters
  • Orange twist, for garnish

Add rye whiskey, Campari, Ramazzotti, curaçao, and bitters to a rocks glass and add ice. Stir until well chilled, garnish with orange twist, and serve.
