Stitched by Eli McCann

I read this as part of a reading group within my modern quilt guild. The story is that a long standing quilt guild is at the point where they have lost so many members that they are in danger of becoming non-viable. One of their members owns a quilt oriented fabric store and her long time assistant is a young gay man who is involved with an artistic boyfriend, and she invites the two of them to join. Neither of them can sew, but it turns out that the level of interpersonal drama on the one hand and the camaraderie on the other keep them coming back. My review is mixed. The good part is that the depiction of the quilting world is pretty dead on. The range of skills between various guild members is realistic, as is the friendship between unlikely people that form solely based on textile arts. That has been my experience, that a deep seated love of fibers can actually create ties that bind. The down side is that the characters are a bit underdeveloped individually, and while there are points of enjoyment, overall this was just ok.
